Pest Control for
SPIDERSSpiders are arachnids, not insects.

  • It’s not too often that people will suffer a spider bite.
  • There are over 1000’s of spider species in Queensland  alone
  • The most common spiders on the Gold Coast are Red Backs, Daddy Long Legs and the Huntsman

We have very beautiful spiders in the bushland and Gold Coast hinterland and they make for some great photos. It is important though to remember it’s never a good idea to aggravate a spider. An untreated bite from the most dangerous spiders, the ‘Red Back’ and the ‘Funnel Web’ spider, could be fatal. These are commonly found on the Gold Coast so if  you aren’t sure what sort a spider is, it is safer to assume that it is dangerous.

The ‘Funnel Web’ spider would be classified as an aggressive spider and is very active at night. Clothing, especially swimming gear or shoes on the bathroom floor, are perfect spots for a funnel web to lay in wait. A Funnel webs can survive at the bottom of swimming pools for several hours. Trying to remove them by hand from swimming pools has been the cause of some deaths in Australia.
A very toxic spider  is the Red Back and can cause death in some circumstances. It’s not aggressive and bites only occur if aggravate or you touch the spider. You commonly find them in discarded food tins, tin sheets on rubbish dumps, under benches or eves of buildings. They can also hide in shoes left out doors overnight.

A homes with gaps around the door frames, window frames, air vents and pipe runs, will encounter more run ins with the pesky spider. The most popular entry point, is under the eaves of homes, where they will have access to the roof void from and can venture downward into the home.

‘My Pestie’ can come periodically to monitor your home and help prevent an infestation with pest control for SPIDERS.
